Ami & Co

Terms of Service

Effective 15 September 2026 · Osaka, Japan

These terms cover ami-and-co.com, the skin strategy consultations booked through it, the review services offered to brands, and the Journal. By using the site or booking a service you agree to them. They are written to be read, not skimmed; the parts that matter most are sections 3 and 5.

1. Who I am

Ami & Co is operated by Amisha, a sole proprietor in Osaka, Japan ("I", "me"). I am a cell biologist with an MEng in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Tokyo and a BS in Investigative and Medical Sciences. I am not a physician, dermatologist, pharmacist, cosmetic chemist, lawyer or regulatory professional, and nothing on this site should be read as if I were.

2. What I offer

  • Consultations for individuals ("For you"): written skin strategies and guided routines, booked through the appointments page.
  • Review services for brands ("For brands"): scientific review of product claims and the evidence behind them, delivered as written findings and rewrites.
  • The Journal and other content: articles, videos and posts published for education.

3. Not medical advice

Consultations and content are educational and personal-care guidance based on published skin science and the information you give me. They are not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and using them does not create a doctor-patient relationship. In particular:

  • I do not diagnose skin conditions and I do not prescribe. If you have, or think you may have, a medical condition (including acne requiring treatment, rosacea, eczema, infection, a suspicious mole or any change you are worried about), see a physician or dermatologist.
  • Where I mention prescription ingredients, including ones I use myself, that is disclosure, not a recommendation. Prescription products are a conversation with your doctor.
  • Do not stop, start or change any prescribed treatment because of something on this site. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, check with your clinician before changing your routine.
  • Results vary. Skin responds to genetics, environment, season, medication and many other things I cannot see, and I make no promise about outcomes.

4. Consultations: booking, payment, changes and refunds

Consultations are booked and paid through the appointments page. Prices are shown in US dollars at the time of booking. You may reschedule free of charge up to 24 hours before the appointment. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice, and no-shows, are not refunded, because the preparation has already been done. If I have to cancel, you get a full refund or a new time, your choice. If a written deliverable has not yet been sent and you change your mind, write to me and I will refund the unused part.

To make a consultation useful I may ask about your routine, products, skin history and lifestyle. Answer only what you are comfortable sharing; the Privacy Policy explains how it is kept.

5. Brand services: scope, payment, confidentiality, intellectual property

Scope. I provide scientific communications support: evidence review, claims-language risk flagging, and ingredient rationale writing. I am not a physician, a regulatory professional, or a cosmetic chemist, and I do not conduct clinical testing. Final legal and regulatory approval of any claim should remain with your counsel or a qualified regulatory consultant. My findings identify and recommend; they are not a legal opinion, a regulatory filing, a certification, or a guarantee that any regulator, platform or retailer will accept a claim.

Payment. The first read (US$450) is paid before delivery and is credited in full against a Claims Language Review if you continue within 60 days. Larger engagements are quoted in writing and invoiced; invoices are due within 14 days unless the quote says otherwise. Work that has been delivered is not refundable. Work not yet started can be cancelled in writing and any prepayment for it is returned.

Confidentiality. Unpublished data, formulations, study reports and internal documents you share are used only for your engagement, are not disclosed to anyone else, and are returned or deleted when the work ends. I will sign a reasonable NDA on request. Brands I discuss publicly in the Journal or on social media are never clients, and clients are never discussed publicly; if a conflict arises I will tell you before taking the work.

Intellectual property. On full payment, you own the deliverables written for you (the findings, the rewrites, the briefs). I keep ownership of my methods, templates, checklists and general know-how, and may reuse them for other clients. You are responsible for how the deliverables are used, including any claims you choose to publish.

6. Content and intellectual property on this site

Text, images, video and design on this site are mine unless credited otherwise, and are for personal, non-commercial use. Quote with attribution and a link; do not republish or use for commercial purposes without written permission. Trade marks and brand names mentioned belong to their owners and are used for identification and commentary only.

7. Independence

I do not accept sponsorships, affiliate commissions or paid placements from beauty, skincare or supplement brands, and no brand pays to be discussed on this site. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the page in question. Equipment or software partnerships unrelated to beauty products will be disclosed where they appear.

8. Limits of liability

The site and its content are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and my total liability to you in connection with any service is limited to the amount you paid for that service. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited under Japanese law or under mandatory consumer protection law where you live.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Osaka District Court, without prejudice to consumer rights that apply where you live.

10. Changes and contact

I may update these terms; the date at the top tells you when. Bookings made before a change are governed by the terms in force when you booked. Questions: itsmish1432@gmail.com. Japanese consumers can also find the statutory disclosures at 特定商取引法に基づく表記.

Plain-language terms, deliberately. They are not legal advice to you, and mandatory consumer law in your country applies regardless of what is written here.
